A quick interview with Indian Fashion Designer AD Singh on what to wear and what not to wear for weddings.

TAS: Current Indian Bridal Fashion Trends

AD Singh: Fashion in India in evolving on a continuous basis, keeping in mind the upcoming and the current bridal scenario the bridal line is dominated with multiple kali skirts, drape sarees and trendy chudidars. and a strong preference for gowns.

The fish cut has taken a back seat and flare is in vogue, slightly fitted on the hips and flaring out and adding flattery to the female form is the current inspiration that is the backbone of every design crafted for the bridal season. The blouses have gone smaller and more trendy and if they are longer they are still very very fitted and figure hugging.
The sarees have gone more chic and the paloos have gone smaller and thinner by the day adding the magical spell of drape and pioneering a much younger looking style in the 6 meter drape.
The chudidar kurtas are without their slits and now more like dresses with fitted leggings made in lycra.
Since the Indian wedding scene is high on drama and multiple event the western gowns with indian fusion has made dramatic and strong immovable space for them but they work only for engagements cocktails or receptions and not the wedding days unlike the western counterparts.
In terms of embellishments swarovski couture is having a strong leeway and is here to stay for a long time!!!!
TAS: Colors of the Season
AD Singh: The season is the season of opal greens , indigo and deeper richer colors with colors like pink and marron being unaffected as standard wedding colors for the conservative bride.
TAS: Fabric, embellishments, etc
AD Singh: Georgette, taffeta, spanish tulle and net rule , shimmer fabrics have a their own little small colony within the fabric community.
Embellishment are predominantly swarovski couture but with gold and antique silver touch. structured look of design is in vogue.
For conservative brides – Please do not add nets and fabrics to the corsets halter neck blouses. If you do not prefer to wear them due to culture shock go in for simple well fitted classic princess line blouse that will be flattering and make you look beautiful!!!!!
