My views and opinions about Antipodes Anti-ageing minis

Before I tell you about my opinions, you need to know that I have a normal to combination skin. The combination bit are either dry or oily depending on the season. Plus, I fall in the 30+ age category.

  • I am not a big fan of night time routines as a lot of products tend to get greasy and I like my face to feel light when I go to bed. But surprisingly these are easy to apply and get absorbed so quickly!
  • My skin feels great when I wake up in the morning.
  • Not greasy. Can you see me doing the happy dance!
  • The serum is so smooth and silky and it takes just a few minutes for all of it to be absorbed into the skin.
  • The night cream has a richer formula, thick and creamy.
  • I am trying this during winters now and the cream fabulously takes care of the dry patches.
  • I apply these and can peacefully go to sleep knowing that there are no harmful chemicals in it. I have always been a big fan of organic products, as you know.
  • I have been waking up to much more softer skin. Baby soft. Imagine, for us 30+ women, it is a great boon to wake up with baby soft skin.
  • I love how my face feels in the morning.

Beauty Favourites July 2014

beauty favourites social

Today, on the blog we are talking about those beauty products that I have been loving a lot lately. The one listed on number 5, I got it from Singapore last year and totally forgot about it until recently. Does that happen with you? Ever? You get some stuff, and then it just skips your mind totally that you have it.

So here we go!

Beauty Favourites – July 2014 edition

beauty favourites

1. Models Prefer Slanted Liner in Carbon Black: Comes with an interesting felt tip to create thick eyeliner. Prior to this one, I have used the Models Prefer Skinny Liner and absolutely loved it. This time I was looking for one which can create a thick liner look effortlessly. I am an absolute nut at applying eyeliner, and always on the lookout for the really easy to apply ones. Always prefer the pen kinds, like this one. Has the same formulation as the Skinny Liner and does a great job at creating the thick eyeliner look.

2. L’Oreal Paris Dermo Expertise Gentle Eye Make-up Remover: Even though this is an eye makeup remover, I use it for my entire face and have been using this makeup remover for a couple of years now. Removes all the makeup effectively, including waterproof eyeliner and mascara. It is not sticky or greasy and does not require harsh rubbing. As the names suggests, it is indeed gentle and does not sting the eyes. Great for taking off the eye makeup, but I anyways use it as an overall makeup remover.

3. Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream: How good is this little pot of goodness! It is doing wonders to my nails and cuticles, especially during winters. I have been using this for around a month now and absolutely love it. This lemony butter concoction is not greasy, has a fantastic texture, absorbs quickly and smells so fresh. My cuticles have never felt so soft. Great product for both men and women. Plus, lasts forever. Do yourself a favour, get this miracle worker.

4. Essie Madison Ave Hue: I love everything pink and this nail polish is a great pink with a very, very faint tinge of shimmer. It is a nice pink-purple mix, more on the pink side. And for some reason it does remind me of Barbie pinks. I usually get away with applying just one coat and it is opaque. Two coats are the maximum you will ever need. A lovely fun, summery colour that I am using in winter to remind me of summer. Great on the hands and feet. Works well across seasons.

5. Chanel CC Cream Complete Correction SPF 30/PA+++ 20 Beige: Love this CC Cream. Melts into my skin and gives it a lovely silk like finish. Comes with SPF 30 which is absolutely wonderful. Gives good coverage for everyday look and photographs well during the day. The coverage is good and it covers the spots on my face without looking cake-y. I can build up the coverage from sheer to medium and it blends pretty well. My skin looks fabulous, it takes care of the imperfections and gives a flawless look.

What have you been loving lately? Any of your beauty favourites that I should try?

1. Benefit They’re Real Mascara: I recently started using this and beginning to love it. I got this from Sephora during my US trip. It creates this sexy dramatic look – curls, lengthens, creates volume, lifts and separates. It is jet black in colour, gives long-wearing results clump. Makes the lashes look fanned out and beautiful; giving it a false eyelash look even without wearing false lashes. Gives a good balance between length and volume.

2. Lancome Juicy Tube – 17 Fraise: Ever since I discovered Lancome Juicy Tubes a couple of years ago, I have never gone back to any other lip gloss. I love this lip gloss! It does not crazily become heavy on your lips and the staying power is amazing. It smells fruity and has a nice consistency to it. These juicy tubes are long-lasting, hydrating and certainly the best gloss around. Fraise was my first Lancome Juicy Tube and since then I have picked them up in so many colours. But this colour, undoubtedly remains my favourite. Fraise even goes well without lipstick.

3. NARS NARSissist Cheek Kit: This again, I got from Sephora on my recent trip to the US. It includes 3 cheek products – highlighter, blush and bronzer. When I went to Sephora, I was keen on only getting the Orgasm blush. But, they had run out of it. The MUA insisted that I pick this kit instead as it includes the Orgasm blush. Best suggestion ever! I love the Devotee highlighter, Orgasm blush and Laguna bronzer in it – 3 of NARS best-selling shades. And it comes with a brush, although I don’t really use it. Pretty handy kit. Good for travels.

4. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure – Shell We Dance: I have often been asked about professional nail polish shades to wear to your work place; something that is simple and sophisticated for office wear. Well, Shell We Dance is one of the best nail polishes to wear to work. 3-4 coats gives optimum results and a work-safe colour. Goes good on me without any chipping for around a week. This work/office appropriate nail paint is pale-sheer-milky-nude pink. I sometimes get away with one coat as well which gives a very natural look to the nails.

5. Lush Sikkim Girls Body Lotion: I have tried a lot of moisturisers and this is one of my favourites, especially for winters. Perfect for everyday moisturising and makes my skin feel supple and nourished. Lush says, “Jasmine flowers infused with vanilla pods and Darjeeling tea creates the soothing base. Unpreserved and beautifully rich, creamy butters and hemp oil nourish your skin while Tuberose, Jasmine and Frangipani essential oils entice others closer.  A sexy, nourishing cream that will leave you feeling seduced after the bath or shower.” Cruelty-free awesomeness in a pot, I say!

What have you been loving lately? Any of your beauty favourites that I should try?

And for everyone around who loves Sephora as much as I do, Sephora is coming to Australia. And the good thing is, as per the latest news, Sephora is going to match US makeup prices in Sydney. Let’s do a mini dance, ladies! And for the men, you don’t need to worry. You will have lots of time to hang out with the boys + watch endless amount of sports whilst we take off to Sephora.

xoxo

Beauty Favourites May 2014

Hello beautiful people! These are PA’s beauty favourites from May 2014.

20140516-210817-001

1. Kat Von D Everlasting Blush Bellisima: I picked this up from Sephora on my recent trip to US. The MUA who was helping me with my Sephora shopping was wearing a very pretty shade of blush on her cheeks. Shamelessly I asked her about it; and that’s how I ended up buying this gorgeous blush. I am having a bit of regret now as I seriously think I should have bought more of Kat Von D blushes; because this blush is SO GOOD. It says, everlasting face shaper blush – 24 hour wear. The maximum time I wear my blush is 10-12 hours. And you know what, it lasts! I am always skeptical of blushes which claim to be 24 hour wear as most of them don’t live up to their claims. But this one, it sure is long lasting. On the multiple occasions I have worn it, I did not need to retouch or reapply as it did not fade. It is well pigmented, which is a great plus. Bellisima is a pretty coral shade; more towards peachy pink. It is somewhat close to Nars Orgasm, but without the shimmer, which I think is pretty good for everyday wear. Right colour + great staying power = perfect combo. Love it!

2. Lancome Le Crayon Kohl Noir: I have sensitive eyes and I am always extra cautious with any kind of eye makeup products. This one surely doesn’t disappoint. It has never caused me any irritation; easy to apply {I don’t have to press it}, highly pigmented and has an intense colour. It is a creamy smooth pencil which is neither too hard nor too soft and glides smoothly. Certainly, my favourite.

3. Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero Smudge Lengthening Mascara: I have been using this mascara for a couple of years now and is definitely my Holy Grail product. It does not smudge of fade and gets me through the day. It is super black, has a slim easy to manoeuvre wand. It does not create an over loaded mascara look, which for me is really great for everyday use. It gives a natural finish to my lashes and does a good job of lengthening it. It is great for everyday natural looking makeup – like the no makeup, makeup look. Highly recommend for a lasting, no smudge mascara that is easy to take off as well. It does not make the lashes heavy unlike a lot of mascaras. I am a fan of makeup products that don’t feel weighty. This is one of them. I wear contact lenses at time and this has never given me any problem, so far. This is the first mascara I ever started using, and have stuck to it since then as it has never given me any problems. I often listen to a lot of people talk of flake-y or smudge-y mascara down their cheekbones. Oh baby, this doesn’t! {PS: I have even cried a bit at times with this mascara on. Didn’t smudge. But to my credit, I prevent myself when I have it on; thinking, why waste an expensive mascara by crying!} I LOVE this mascara.

4. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in 510 I Pink I Can: The Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure range of polishes has an all-in-one formula and supposed to be a base coat, strengthener,  growth treatment, colour, top coat, chip-resistance and a gel finish all in 1 bottle. I Pink I Can is a lovely bright bubble-gum pink colour and very pretty. It has a nice creamy glossy finish and does not have any shimmer or glitter in it. It does not take much time to dry out and I get full opacity in two coats. I am a one coat person usually, and I like the way it looks after one coat as well. Good thing is, it doesn’t chip for days.

5. Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Organic Deodorant: Starting 2014, I made a conscious decision to gradually move towards organic, toxin free products – one step at a time. The first thing I decided to change was my deodorant/ antiperspirant routine. After crowd-sourcing recommendations and reading a couple of good reviews online, I hopped over to my nearest Priceline and took the plunge. Got myself this Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Organic Deodorant barely days before heading for a month-long travel to NZ + USA. It was a calculated risk I took by taking this small bottle of 60ml and expecting it to last a month. To be on the safer side, I took a bottle of another deodorant. When you are on the go for more than a month, you do need backups. I liked the fact that it is a small bottle and I can place in in the corner of my hand bag without worrying about adding a chunk of excess weight on my arms. I started using it a few days before starting my travels just to get used to it. To be frank, it does take a bit of time to get used to the smell of tea tree. But it does feel nice and fresh. Honestly, yes. Eventually it lasted me for a much longer time after I even came back from my trip. I did not even end up using my backup. Now, isn’t that amazing! So, TAS HQ gives it a nod of approval. I now call it my handy + trusty + compact travel essential. Icing on the cake – it is organic and aluminium free.
