What brings you happiness – a feel-good factor?
What is that thing that ignites a fire in you,
yet gives your soul that soothing and calm feeling?
For me – Its DANCE. It was my first realization of contentment, passion and happiness. I remember the joy that I got from dancing to ‘Mere Haathon Mein Nau Nau‘ (Bollywood song) when I was a little girl. There was so much to learn from Bollywood then. These days actresses take a week training and they think they can be our inspiration. (There is lot involved than just moving the body)
My passion for dance yearned for knowledge of the art and I started learning Bharatnatyam, followed by Kathak, Hip-Hop, Jive, Contemporary, Bachata and Salsa. Dance is like a sea and I have just accumulated just a few drops.
Besides the feel-good factor, there is a lot Dance offers you. It touches and benefits every aspect.
Body: Dance helps you stay fit and young forever. It lubricated joints and makes bones strong. It is the best way to burn calories and stay in shape. It strengthens muscles and teaches us the art of balance.
Mind: Dance improves our memory by making us recall steps, routines and dance patterns. This acts as a mental exercise which keeps us your mind quick and alert. Moreover it strengthens our reflexes and keeps the mind and body well-coordinated.
Skin: More than facials and beauty products, it is perspiration that cleanses the skin naturally. Dance helps you to achieve this too.
Social: Dance is recreational and has no cultural barriers. Helps you socialize and make friends.
Happy Self: Dance therapy helps people overcome stress and depressions. Dance boosts self-esteem. It makes you feel and embrace your emotions.
